[While turned away he is not distracted. Nope. Nope. Not going to go back down that road. Underwear then trousers. And then he's buttoning down his shirt. Just as he's found his own pair of socks he stops at the suggestion, eyes widening.]
...You think that she'd mind? I mean... does she know--?
[Frank is fixed to the spot and suddenly becomes conscious of his choice of dress. He hasn't even combed his hair. Are his shoes even polished? Shiiiit.]
I'd like to meet her. I mean... if I want to come around more. I don't want it to come as a shock or anything.
[And that's when he remembers a comb because he's not gonna look like some dumb grunt any more than necessary. A few strokes and the wet dark curls are flattened and separated to lay in a composed manner.]
[ A smile spreads on his face at Frank mentioning coming around more and he nods in agreement. He steps over closer as he combs at his hair. He takes the comb and with the help of his hand, he parts Frank's hair more on the side and combs it down from there.
He's seen what "the suits" wear and how they look. He wants Frank to look that good.
[Right now that is his wish, to have this last. To be there for him, with him. Frank crouches some so that Peter can go about it comfortably. He can't see the handiwork but trusts that it's going to be just right.]
Thanks.
[He takes the comb and gives a little peck to Peter's cheek.]
[That smile ignites Frank's like he's kindling. And again he wants to pull him close. Once they step of the door, that's not acceptable anymore. They had last night. That was something very, very special. Nobody can take that away. Nobody. Which is way he is feeling keen to head after Peter, locking the door behind them.]
It tends to I suppose.
[No kind of a palace but not the poorhouse. The neighborhood is mostly Italian. That's apparent in the voices that sound from behind close doors or the few people they meet walking down the stairwell. Casual greetings and hellos. Big surprise there.]
[ Peter grins as he hears arguing in Italian, then muffled opera music, nods to the people that pass them. He waits until they are down on the bottom floor before turning back to Frank, ]
Not all of em. Quite a few though. I got a cousin who put in a good word with the landlord for me. His best friend's family are here.
[They step out onto the street and Frank squints. The afternoon hours are getting short. A very good time to be leaving. Sunlight looks great on Peter's face.]
[ He gives a soft laugh and starts walking in the direction of his own neighborhood after adjusting to the sunlight. It's the first time he's been out since last night. Hard to believe. He turns to get a look at the building again and then back to facing where he's walking. ]
Ours is mostly Irish and third generation Americans. Got a German family about two doors down, a French couple on the corner.
[Peter is leading the way, Frank walks at a safe distance. Two pals. Walking. Nothing strange or weird or wrong or anything. He's making his own note of which way they head up.]
Isn't it funny how almost all of us come here on the same boats but gotta try and stick to separate neighborhoods?
[Now it's his turn to have some color in his cheeks and a little swagger set in.]
Yeah? Something you want me to say in it?
[Since it's so amusing and since they're making their way through the neighborhoods. Italian American population not getting so compacted into the space.]
[Frank reaches to indulge a pat on the shoulder. You know, the way friends do. Right back to his side after. On second thought better put em in his pockets. There.]
So the other day I was at this shitty bar and you wouldn't believe the heavens opened up and there was this angel with the nicest face. I really think that I should be blind looking at such a sight. But here I am.
[All blurbed out with the musicality of the language, not too-too loud.]
[Laughing, smiling means he should do it more than. Right?]
Anyways I got to hold this angel in my arms. And kiss. And we made love. Sweet and forbidden. I don't know what that makes the two of us but Holy Father in Heaven to love is not a sin.
[Whiiiiich does get more animated and he has to relinquish his hands from his pockets to properly put his hands in prayer and cross himself.]
[ Peter watches the street for them as they cross and then goes back to watching Frank once they are back on the sidewalk, his grin getting wider before he's reaching over to give the other man a playful shove to the shoulder. ]
[Obvious, so obvious. Though he is really enjoying the light radiating off of Peter's grin even as the sun is sinking lower. Frank hardly budges at the shove.]
Nonsense.
[Though his cheeks have a slight tint to them. Frank looks around and lowers his voice.]
[ And now it's Peter's turn to get red in the face. But he's still grinning, giving breathless laughter at the words as he can't believe someone just said that about him.
He reaches up to run a restless hand through his hair, looking up at where they were, making sure they were still on the right path before he finally says, ]
You sure about the "angel" part? Because I might have to argue with you on that.
no subject
I thought you meant one of those fancy townhouses or something.
[ He can't imagine having one of those. Well, he's imagined it but he's pretty sure that will never happen. He waits until Frank is dressed to ask, ]
Did you, uh, wanna come in and meet her?
[ That's not weird to do, right? ]
no subject
...You think that she'd mind? I mean... does she know--?
[Frank is fixed to the spot and suddenly becomes conscious of his choice of dress. He hasn't even combed his hair. Are his shoes even polished? Shiiiit.]
no subject
We don't really... talk about it all that much but yeah. She knows. Part of why she would be worried if I didn't get back before dark tonight.
[ But he adds in a rush, ]
It's okay if you don't want to go in! You don't have to.
no subject
[And that's when he remembers a comb because he's not gonna look like some dumb grunt any more than necessary. A few strokes and the wet dark curls are flattened and separated to lay in a composed manner.]
Do I look like I'm suited to meet your aunt?
no subject
He's seen what "the suits" wear and how they look. He wants Frank to look that good.
He steps back and grins, ]
You look great.
no subject
Thanks.
[He takes the comb and gives a little peck to Peter's cheek.]
Best get a move on.
no subject
Yep.
[ It's out in the hallway and then on the stairs that Peter comments, ]
This all looks really different in the day...
no subject
It tends to I suppose.

[ He turns back to Frank to gesture between them, ]
I mean, we get along just fine.
no subject
Oh we do. And I like that.
no subject
Oh, I know you do.
I like it, too.
no subject
I mean, not just that stuff. That's good---great.
[AHEM.]
Talking to you, listening to you talk. I like that real well.
no subject
I like hearing you talk, too. And talking to you. I especially like it when you speak Italian.
[ Because yeah it sounds sexy coming from that gruff voice. He can't even pretend it doesn't. ]
no subject
Yeah? Something you want me to say in it?
[Since it's so amusing and since they're making their way through the neighborhoods. Italian American population not getting so compacted into the space.]
Like which way to the library?
no subject
Whatever you want. I want to hear it all.

That can't be about the library.
[ That was way too long. Peter doesn't really mind though. ]
no subject

no subject
You are not talking about the library at all!
[ Adding, once he can stop laughing so hard, ]
What did you really say?
no subject
[Obvious, so obvious. Though he is really enjoying the light radiating off of Peter's grin even as the sun is sinking lower. Frank hardly budges at the shove.]
Nonsense.
[Though his cheeks have a slight tint to them. Frank looks around and lowers his voice.]
Making love to an angel.
